RULES

1. Pianists of all nationalities who do not exceed the age limit for the category selected in their registration form may participate in the contest.

2. All contestants may compete in their assigned category (based on their age) and/or in higher categories if they deem it appropriate.

3. The entire repertoire must be performed from memory. Repeating the same repertoire from the preliminary round in the final round is not allowed.

4. Contestants will perform in alphabetical order, with the starting letter determined by a draw. Performances will proceed in alphabetical order from that point. This order may be modified due to force majeure. Contestants must justify their request, and the competition’s management will evaluate their reasons and make a final decision. The result of the performance order draw, conducted by the Contest Organizing Committee, will be communicated to registered contestants starting June 1.

5. The jury may interrupt a contestant’s performance without it being interpreted as an evaluation. The jury is not obligated to award all prizes, and its decisions are final.

6. Piano Testing – Acoustics
Contestants wishing to test the piano and the hall must request it via the registration form. Contestants who are not present at the communicated time will not be allowed to perform the test.

7. The first prize is indivisible. The second and third prizes may be awarded ex-aequo.

8. Prizes are subject to the corresponding deductions in accordance with current legislation.

9. Pianos and Practice Rooms
The competition will provide pianos and practice rooms for rehearsals during the event at various locations to be announced by the organization. To access the practice rooms, contestants will receive an email with an authorization letter, which must be printed and presented. Without this authorization, access to the practice pianos will not be allowed.

10. Awarded contestants must personally collect their prize during the Closing Ceremony and Awards Presentation. If, due to force majeure, a contestant cannot attend, they must justify their absence. The competition management will evaluate their reasons and may authorize the prize to be collected by an authorized representative.

11. The competition has arranged special full-board accommodation rates at the Hotel Alixares. Detailed information is available on our website in the ACCOMMODATION section.

12. Contestants under the age of 18 must be accompanied at all times by an adult guardian who will assume responsibility for the minor in all circumstances. If the accompanying adult is not a legal guardian, written authorization from at least one legal guardian is required. The competition’s management will not be held responsible for any incidents involving minors during the event.
Contestants under the age of 18 who wish to attend the competition unaccompanied may do so, provided they present a signed parental authorization.

13. All travel and visa expenses are the sole responsibility of the participant. Visa requirements for entry into Spain must be addressed through the respective embassy or consulate. Contestants are responsible for arranging their own visas. Upon request, the organization will send an invitation letter via email.

14. The Contest Organizing Committee will inform applicants starting June 1 if they have been selected. If an applicant is not selected, the registration fee will be refunded. The Organizing Committee will establish a waiting list of non-selected contestants who may be invited to participate if any selected contestants withdraw.

15. The competition management reserves the right to resolve any situations not covered in these rules. In the event of translation discrepancies, the official version of the rules will be the Spanish version.

16. The registration fee is non-refundable.

17. The competition reserves the right to authorize the broadcasting and televising of the contest’s performances, as well as to record them in any audio or video format for the benefit of the competition.

18. Registration in the competition implies full acceptance of these rules.
