RULES
1. Violinists of all nationalities who do not exceed the age limit in the selected category at the start of the competition may participate.
2. All contestants may compete in their corresponding category (according to their age) and/or higher categories if they deem it appropriate.
3. The entire repertoire must be played from memory, except if the contestant is playing a contemporary sonata. In this case, and only with this piece, it will be permitted to play it with sheet music. It is not permitted to play the same repertoire from the first phase in the final phase.
4. Contestants will perform in alphabetical order, starting with the letter drawn in a lottery to determine the order of the competition. The corresponding alphabetical order will then be followed. This order may be modified in cases of force majeure. The candidate must justify the reason, and the competition management will evaluate their case and make a final decision. The result of the draw, conducted by the Organizing Committee, will be communicated to the registered contestants starting June 1.
5. The Jury may interrupt the contestant’s performance without this implying any type of evaluation. The Jury is not obliged to award all prizes. Its decisions are final.
6. Acoustic Test: Contestants wishing to test the venue must request this via the registration form. Contestants who are not present at the scheduled time will not be allowed to perform the test.
7. Accompanying Pianist: If the contestant wishes to perform pieces with piano accompaniment, they may do so with their accompanying pianist. If they do not have one, they may request one through the registration form. When making the request, the participant must submit a PDF file of the scores to be performed.
Cost of the accompanying pianist provided by the organization: €50 + 21% VAT = €60.5, in addition to the registration fee for the competition. Transfers must be made free of charge for the competition.
8. The first prize is indivisible. The second and third prizes may be awarded as ex-aequo.
9. Prizes are subject to the corresponding tax withholdings in accordance with the current law.
10. Awarded contestants must personally collect their prize at the Closing Ceremony and award presentation. If, due to force majeure, participants cannot attend, the candidate must provide justification. The competition management will evaluate the reasons and authorize the delivery of the corresponding prize to an authorized representative.
11. The Competition has arranged special rates at the Hotel Alixares under a Full Board plan. For more information, please visit our website under the ACCOMMODATION section.
12. Practice Rooms: Participants staying at the Hotel Alixares may practice in their rooms. For this reason, the organization recommends bringing your own music stand.
13. All contestants under 18 years of age must be accompanied at all times by an adult guardian who will be responsible for the minor in any situation. If the adult is not one of the minor’s legal guardians, a written authorization from at least one of the legal guardians will be required. The competition management will not be held responsible for any incidents involving participants during the competition. Contestants under 18 years of age wishing to attend the competition on their own may do so only if they present a signed parental authorization.
14. All travel and visa expenses will be the participant’s responsibility. Visa requirements for Spain must be processed through the respective embassy or consulate. Participants are responsible for obtaining their own visas. Upon request, the organization will send an invitation letter by email.
15. The Organizing Committee will inform candidates starting June 1 if they have been selected. If not selected, the registration fee will be refunded. The Organizing Committee will establish a waiting list of unselected contestants who may be invited to participate if there are withdrawals from selected contestants.
16. The competition management reserves the right to resolve any situations not covered in these rules. In the event of translation errors in the rules, the Spanish version will be considered official.
17. The registration fee is non-refundable.
18. The competition reserves the right to authorize the broadcasting and telecasting of the competition’s Concerts and Rounds, as well as to record them in any musical or video format in favor of the competition.
19. Registration for the competition implies full acceptance of these rules.
